- Superior wood quality & quality checks
All our wood is sourced from sustainable plantations. Situated in the heart of Mpumalanga, the province “where the sun rises,” we are ideally located in a climate where trees grow very well. All our treated poles are made from eucalyptus wood. This wood is strong and the trees grow up to 30m tall, ensuring that our poles are long enough for your required applications.
Over the past thirty years, we have built strong relationships with reliable foresters in the area. They supply us with good quality wood year-round to ensure that we can deliver our products to our clients in reasonable lead time. All our timber is grown under high environmental standards.
Our skilled workers inspect the wood as soon as it enters our pole yard. Further quality checks are performed throughout the treatment process and no timber product leaves our yard without passing the final quality test.

Not only are our wooden poles subjected to consistent quality tests before, during and after the treatment process, they also have the stamp to prove it!

- Advanced treatment methods
As treated wood suppliers, the quality of our treatments is equally important as the quality of our wood. All our timber products are pressure treated. We have the treatment process down to an exact science.
We use two types of chemicals to treat our wood: CCA and creosote. Both chemicals protect the wood they impregnate from damage due to insects and harsh environmental conditions. Creosote poles have a characteristic black colour, while CCA-treatment gives poles a greenish tint.
Different environmental conditions require different treatment levels, and our treated poles are thus classified according to hazard classes. You can read more about these hazard classes here.

Not only do we produce high-quality timber products, but we also deliver them too! Vuka Timbers handles the complete logistics via land and sea to deliver our treated gum poles to clients across the country and the African continent.

Our current infrastructure includes the following:
- A creosote treating plant with a capacity of 4000m
- A CCA treating plant with a capacity of 4000m
- Administrative offices for management and administration personnel
- 2 boilers for steam production to heat creosote and to dry and season poles in the kiln(s)
- A 15-hectare property where we stockpile raw materials and treated poles
- A workshop where our staff maintain and repair all machinery and equipment to keep down-time on machinery to an absolute minimum
- The workshop also contains a weighbridge to ensure that loads are maximized, both in incoming and dispatched material
